n an outrageous move, the man charged with murdering Mollie Tibbetts Opens a New Window. is begging taxpayers to foot the bill in his fight to be freed, RadarOnline.com can exclusively report.

Cristhian Bahena Rivera Opens a New Window. , who was charged for the murder of the 20-year-old Iowa student, is demanding taxpayers foot his bill for a team of private investigators, according to documents exclusively obtained by Radar.

As Radar readers know, Tibbetts’ disappearance prompted international attention after authorities from both the federal and state level searched for the missing University of Iowa rising sophomore, who vanished while out for a jog in her secluded hometown of Brooklyn, Iowa on July 18.

Radar obtained exclusive documents indicating the suspected murderer asked for an initial $5,000 to retain company Gratias Investigations, noting “this amount is probably considerably less than what will actually be necessary to conduct all investigation in this matter.”

Rivera’s lawyers said they wouldn’t disclose details as to why the suspected killer wants his own investigators, except behind closed doors at a hearing.

In a puzzling decision, a judge granted Rivera’s request for $5,000 for the team of investigators, though any additional amount needed would require further approval.

The documents also included a handwritten financial affidavit filled out by Rivera himself, revealing a shocking twist – he was born in 1997, not 1994 as he previously told authorities. Rivera’s handwritten statement listed his home address as “jail” and noted that he nor those who reside in his house of horrors have a job or income.

Just last week, federal agents raided Rivera’s workplace and a source close to the investigation revealed that the case is “far from finished.”

Radar exclusively reported that Rivera frightened other women in the isolated community before allegedly abducting and brutally murdering Tibbetts.

Rivera is being housed at the Poweshiek County Jail in lieu of $5 million cash bond pending his next court appearance, which has not yet been scheduled.

The FBI and DCI did not reply to Radar’s request for comment regarding Rivera’s new date of birth, but noted that they are looking into the strange change.
